The Archives and Special Collections Department records contain materials related to the library and archives collections and research, policies and procedures, events, library facilities, and various outreach related projects. It contains both analog and electronic resources. An inventory of additional electronic records is available upon request. Further details of scope and contents are included at the fonds and series-level.

Conditions Governing Access
This collection is open for internal staff research. According to the Archives and Special Collections Policy, all institutional records are closed to public researchers for 25 years from the date of creation, unless they meet the following criteria for permanent restriction:
- Records which are restricted due to applicable federal or state privacy laws
- Legal communications
- Legal work product
- Other materials at the discretion of the HEMG Director and/or Head, Archives and Special Collections.
All restricted items are published and clearly marked as restricted. The digital counterparts will only be accessible by to those with permission.
