Biography

Joseph E. Davies (1876-1958) was the third husband of Marjorie Merriweather Post. They were married on December 15, 1935. He was a lawyer that served in several diplomatic positions during the Wilson, Roosevelt, and Truman presidencies. Most notably, he was appointed by Franklin Delano Roosevelt as the U.S. Ambassador to the Soviet Union from 1936 to 1938.
