Before Marjorie Merriweather Post's purchase and renovation of Hillwood, the residence was known as Arbremont. Arbremont was designed by architect John Deibert and built by Andrew Murray. Construction was finished in February 1926. It was built for Henry Parsons and Helen Blodgett Erwin and their family
